My dad was born in 1931 and this is his first tractor, a 1957 2 cylinder John Deere 720.  He said they called it the "Johnny Putt Putt" because of the sound it made when it was running. 

My dad drove John Deere tractors his whole life and always said “buy a big one, buy a green one, buy a John Deere.”
